  • Dua to be recited when placing the dead in his grave

    With the Name of Allah and according to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah.

     
    بِسْـمِ اللهِ وَعَلـى سُـنَّةِ رَسـولِ الله
     
    Bismillaahi wa ‘alaa sunnati Rasoolillaah
    Abu Dawud 3/314 with an authentic chain. Ahmad also recorded it with the wording: With the Name of Allah, and according to the religion of the Messenger of Allah. Its chain is also authentic.
  • Dua for the dead in the Funeral prayer

    O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him and give him strength and pardon him.
    Be generous to him and cause his entrance to be wide and wash him with water and snow and hail.
    Cleanse him of his transgressions as white cloth is cleansed of stains.
    Give him an abode better than his home, and a family better than his family and a wife better than his wife.
    Take him into Paradise and protect him from the punishment of the grave [and from the punishment of Hell-fire].

     
    اللهُـمِّ اغْفِـرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْـه ، وَعافِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنْـه ، وَأَكْـرِمْ نُزُلَـه ، وَوَسِّـعْ مُدْخَـلَه ، وَاغْسِلْـهُ بِالْمـاءِ وَالثَّـلْجِ وَالْبَـرَدْ ، وَنَقِّـهِ مِنَ الْخطـايا كَما نَـقّيْتَ الـثَّوْبُ الأَبْيَـضُ مِنَ الدَّنَـسْ ، وَأَبْـدِلْهُ داراً خَـيْراً مِنْ دارِه ، وَأَهْلاً خَـيْراً مِنْ أَهْلِـه ، وَزَوْجَـاً خَـيْراً مِنْ زَوْجِه، وَأَدْخِـلْهُ الْجَـنَّة ، وَأَعِـذْهُ مِنْ عَذابِ القَـبْر وَعَذابِ النّـار
     
    Allaahum-maghfir lahu warhamhu, wa ‘aafihi, wa’fu ‘anhu, wa ‘akrim nuzulahu, wa wassi’ mudkhalahu, waghsilhu bilmaa’i waththalji walbaradi, wa naqqihi minal-khataayaa kamaa naqqaytath-thawbal-‘abyadha minad-danasi, wa ‘abdilhu daaran khayran min daarihi, wa ‘ahlan khayran min ‘ahlihi, wa zawjan khayran min zawjihi, wa ‘adkhilhul-jannata, wa. ‘a’ithhu min ‘athaabil-qabri[wa ‘athaabin-naar].

  • What to say upon completing ablution

    O Allah, make me among those who turn to You in repentance, and make me among those who are purified.

     
    اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي مِنَ التَّوَّابِينَ وَاجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ
     
    Allaahummaj’alnee minat-tawwaabeena waj’alnee minal-mutatahhireen

  • What to encourage the dying person to say

    He will enter Paradise, he who dies with the last words saying
    لا إلهَ إلاّ اللّه
     
    Laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaah
    There is none worthy of worship but Allah.

  • What to say upon completing ablution

    I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, Who has no partner; and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger.

     
    أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
     
    ‘Ash-hadu ‘an laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu wa ‘ash-hadu ‘anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa Rasooluh

  • What to say before performing ablution

  • Dua for someone who offers you a share of his wealth

    Baarakallaahu laka fee ‘ahlika wa maalik
    May Allah bless you in your family and your property.

  • Dua against evil portent

    As foreboding of good, these used to please the Prophet (Sallal laahoo alaihi wassallam) and so when he heard good words from someone, he used to say: “We have taken from you a good portent from your mouth,”
    “O Allah there is no portent other than Your portent, no goodness other than Your goodness, and none worthy of worship other than You.”

     
    اللّهُـمَّ لا طَيْـرَ إِلاّ طَيْـرُك، وَلا خَـيْرَ إِلاّ خَـيْرُك، وَلا إِلهَ غَيْـرُك
     
    Allaahumma laa tayra ‘illaa tayruka, wa laa khayra ‘illaa khayruka, wa laa ‘ilaaha ghayruk

  • Dua for someone who lends you money

    Invocation (upon receipt of the loan) for someone who lends you money

    May Allah bless you in your family and your wealth, surely the reward for a loan is praise and returning (what was borrowed).

     
    بارَكَ اللهُ لَكَ في أَهْلِكَ وَمالِك، إِنَّما جَـزاءُ السَّلَفِ الْحَمْدُ والأَدَاء

    Baarakallaahu laka fee ‘ahlika wa maalika, ‘innamaa jazaa’us-salafil-hamdu wal’adaa’

  • Dua for someone you have spoken ill to

    O Allah, whomever of the believers I have abused, give him the reward of a sacrificial slaughter for it on the Day of Resurrection.

     
    اللهُمَّ فأَيُّمَا مُؤْمِنٍ سَبَبْتُهُ فَاجْعَلْ ذَلِكَ لهُ قُرْبةً إليكَ يَوْمَ القِيَامةِ
     
    Allaahumma fa’ayyumaa mu’minin sababtuhu faj’al thaalika lahu qurbatan ‘ilayka yawmal-qiyaamat
