“My Lord, indeed I seek refuge in You from asking You that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have Mercy on me, I will be among the losers.”
The ship built by Nuh Alaihissalaam sailed upon the surface of the water, which had completely covered the earth until it encompassed the tops of the mountains and even rose over them by a height of fifteen cubits. It was also said that the waves rose over the mountains by a height of eighty miles. Yet, this ship continued to move upon the water, sailing by the permission of Allah. It moved under His shade, His help, His protection and His blessing.
Allah says in the Holy Quran:-
(42. So it (the ship) sailed with them amidst waves like mountains, and Nuh called out to his son, who had separated himself (apart): “O my son! Embark with us and be not with the disbelievers.”) (43. The son replied: “I will betake myself to some mountain, it will save me from the water.” Nuh said: “This day there is no savior from the decree of Allah except him on whom He has mercy.” And waves came in between them, so he (the son) was among the drowned.)
This was the fourth son of Nuh Alaihissalaam. His name was Yam and he was a disbeliever.
Allah say sin the Holy Quran:
(45. And Nuh called upon his Lord and said, “O my Lord! Verily, my son is of my family! And certainly, Your promise is true, and You are the Most Just of the judges.”) (46. He said: “O Nuh! Surely, he is not of your family; verily, his work is unrighteous, so ask not of Me that of which you have no knowledge! I admonish you, lest you should be one of the ignorant.”) (47. Nuh said: “O my Lord! I seek refuge with You from asking You that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have mercy on me, I would indeed be one of the losers.”)
Those who are having difficulty conceiving a child should recite this dua.
Allah says in the Holy Quran:-
”(89. And (remember) Zakariyya, when he cried to his Lord: “O My Lord! Leave me not single (childless), though You are the Best of the inheritors.”) (90. So We answered his call, and We bestowed upon him Yahya, and cured his wife for him. Verily, they used to hasten on to do good deeds, and they used to call on Us with hope and fear, and they were Khashi`in before Us.)
Allah tells us of His Prophet Zakariyya Alaihisslaam, who asked Allah to grant him a son who would be a Prophet after him.
“And how many a prophet [fought and] with him fought many religious scholars. But they never lost assurance due to what afflicted them in the cause of Allah , nor did they weaken or submit. And Allah loves the steadfast.” (3:146)
“ And they said nothing but: “Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and our transgressions, establish our feet firmly, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk. So Allah gave them the reward of this world, and the excellent reward of the Hereafter. And Allah loves the good-doers.” (3 :147-148)
What many Prophets and their companions suffered in Jihad in Allah’s cause and for the sake of their religion did not make them lose heart. This is patience and Allah loves the patient.
And they said nothing but: “Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and our transgressions, establish our feet firmly, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk.” (3:146-147)
This is the supplication of the believers. Allah says that His pious servants supplicate to Him with this prayer,
“Our Lord! Avert from us the torment of Hell. Verily, its torment is ever an inseparable punishment.”) meaning, ever-present and never ending.
Al-Hasan said concerning the Ayah,
(Verily, its torment is ever an inseparable, permanent punishment.) Everything that strikes the son of Adam, then disappears, does not constitute an inseparable, permanent punishment. The inseparable, permanent punishment is that which lasts as long as heaven and earth. This was also the view of Sulayman At-Taymi.
(Evil indeed it is as an abode and as a place to rest in.) means, how evil it looks as a place to dwell and how evil it is as a place to rest.
”For those who fear Allah will be gardens in the presence of their Lord beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally, and purified spouses and approval from Allah . And Allah is Seeing of [His] servants” (3:14-15)
Those who say, “Our Lord, indeed we have believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire,”
Allah describes the Muttaqin, His pious servants, whom He promised tremendous rewards.
Those who say: “Our Lord! We have indeed believed” in You, Your Book and Your Messenger.
“so forgive us our sins” because of our faith in You and in what You legislated for us. Therefore, forgive us our errors and shortcomings, with Your bounty and mercy,
“and save us from the punishment of the Fire.”
Allah then said,
They are the patient, the true, the obedient, those who spend [in the way of Allah ], and those who seek forgiveness before dawn.(3:17)
Always read this dua when you go outside your house.
“O Allah, I seek refuge in You lest I misguide others, or I am misguided by others, lest I cause others to err or I am caused to err, lest I abuse others or be abused, and lest I behave foolishly or meet with the foolishness of others”
Shahr bin Haushab reported:
I asked Umm Salamah (May Allah be pleased with her), “O Mother of the Believers! Which supplication did the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) make frequently when he was in your house?” She said: “He (Peace be upon him) supplicated frequently this dua.
