Aishah (Radi Allahu anha) said: “Allah’s Messenger (Sallal laahoo alaihi wassallam) did not sit in a gathering, and did not recite the Qur’an, and did not perform any prayer without concluding by saying…
(then she quoted the dua given below).”
“Glory is to You, O Allah, and praise is to You. I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but You. I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You.”
Subhaanaka Allaahumma wa bihamdika, ‘ash-hadu ‘an laa ‘ilaaha ‘illaa ‘Anta, ‘astaghfiruka wa ‘atoobu ‘ilayk
Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah, At-Tirmidhi and An-Nasa’i. See also Al-Albani, Sahih At-Tirmidhi 3/ 153.This was reported by An-Nasa’i in ‘Amalul-Yawm wal-Laylah (no.308), and Dr. Farooq Hamadah graded it authentic in his checking of the same book.
(Before entering) ”[In the Name of Allah]. (Then) O Allah, I seek protection in You from the male and female unclean spirits.” (بِسْمِ الله) اللّهُـمَّ إِنِّـي أَعـوذُ بِـكَ مِـنَ الْخُـبْثِ وَالْخَبائِث [Bismillaahi] Allaahumma ‘innee ‘a’oothu bika minal-khubthi walkhabaa’ith.
Ibn Abi Hatim recorded that `Abdullah bin `Amr said, “The people of Hell will call on Malik for forty years, and he will not answer them. Then he will respond and tell them that they are to abide therein. By Allah, their cries will mean nothing to Malik or to the Lord of Malik. Then they will call on their Lord and will say,
(Our Lord! Our wretchedness overcame us, and we were (an) erring people. Our Lord! Bring us out of this. If ever we return (to evil), then indeed we shall be wrongdoers.) ﴿23:106-107﴾ Allah will not answer them for a time span equivalent to twice the duration of this world. Then He will reply:
(108. He (Allah) will say [to the disbelievers] : “Remain you in it with ignominy! And speak you not to Me!”)
By Allah, the people will not utter a single word after that, and they will merely be in the Fire of Hell, sighing in a high and low tone. Their voices are likened to those of donkeys, which start in a high tone and end in a low tone.”
Then Allah will remind them of their sins in this world and how they used to make fun of His believing servants and close friends:
(109. Verily, there was a party of My servants who used to say: “Our Lord! We believe, so forgive us and have mercy on us, for You are the Best of all who show mercy!”) (110. But you took them for a laughing stock, so much so that they made you forget My remembrance while you used to laugh at them!) meaning, `you made fun of them for calling on Me and praying to Me and your hatred for them made you forget what I would do to you.
Then Allah tells us how He will reward His friends and righteous servants, and says:
(111. Verily, I have rewarded them this Day for their patience; they are indeed the ones that are successful.)
I have caused them to attain the victory of joy, safety, Paradise and salvation from the Fire.’
All greetings of humility are for Allah, and all prayers and goodness. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous slaves of Allah. I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger.
One should supplicate after doing Wudhu. Supplicate facing the Qibla. One should supplicate with both hands raised. Before Dua, one must recite the praise and glorification of Almighty Allah. Recite Durood-e-pak before and after reciting supplication. (It is given at the end of this section). Never supplicate for an unlawful thing or cutting off of relations. Supplicate with presence of mind. One must have a good notion about Almighty Allah that He is kind, and He would not return the supplicant empty handed. One should be absolutely attentive to Almighty Allah. One should supplicate fervently. One should mention the needs. One must include others also in one’s supplications. One must express his humility and weakness before Almighty Allah. Give Sadaqah (charity) before supplicating, if possible Supplicate before the arrival of calamity. Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) says: You should recognize Almighty Allah during prosperity and He will come to your help when you are in trouble. You should request brothers in faith to pray for you as the Almighty accepts the supplication of one believer for another. Continue to supplicate regularly whether your supplication is answered or not; perhaps there is some divine exigency in the delay and dua is loved by Almighty Allah, thus one should never give up the most liked act.
Say “Ameen” at the end of making dua.
After the supplication, pass both hands over the face.
Along with supplication, one must abandon all the unlawful acts and disobedience of Allah as bad intentions, internal evil, hypocrisy, delay in ritual prayer and disobedience of parents hinder acceptance of supplications.
The best times for making dua
The last third of the night Late at night While prostrating Between Adhan and Iqamah While drinking Zamzam Water When Waking Up at Night At The End Of The Obligatory Salat At the time of Tahajjud The Night Of ‘Qadr’ (Decree) During the rain During a special hour on Friday (between Asr and Maghrib) While travelling During the month of Ramadhan Shab e Qadr Day of Arafah During sickness etc
Durood e paak
Read durood e paak before and after making dua.
Durood means to send peace and blessings on our HOLY PROPHET (PEACE BE UPON HIM). It is a great act of worship.
”Indeed,Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O you who have believed, Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect” [33:56]
”O Allah, bestow Your favor on Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and on the family of Muhammad (Peace be upon him) as You have bestowed Your favor on Ibrahim (Peace be upon him) and on the family of Ibrahim (Peace be upon him), You are Praiseworthy, Most Glorious.
O Allah, bless Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and the family of Muhammad (Peace be upon him) as You have blessed Ibrahim (Peace be upon him) and the family of Ibrahim(Peace be upon him) , You are Praiseworthy, Most Glorious”
Allahumma salli alaa muhammadin wa alaa aali muhammadin kamaa sallaita alaa ibrahima wa alaa aali ibrahima innaka hameedum majeed
Allaahumma baarik alaa muhammadin wa alaa aali muhammadin kamaa baarakta alaa ibrahima wa alaa aali ibrahima innaka hameedum majeed
Read this invocation upon the COMPLETION of your WUDU (ABLUTION).
“Glory is to You O Allah , and praise ,and I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.”
‘Amr b Sa’id b al-As reported: I was, with Uthman Radi Allahu anhu that he called for ablution water and said: I heard Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) say: When the time for a prescribed prayer comees, if any Muslim perform ablution well and offers his prayer) with humility and bowing, it will be an expiation for his past sins, so long as he has not committed a major sin; and this applies to for all times.
The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said : “The best invocation is that of the Day of Arafat, and the best that anyone can say is what I and the Prophets before me have said”
Laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa Huwa ‘alaa kulli shay’in
Qadeer
None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, Who has no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is Able to do all things.
At-Tirmidhi. Al-Albani graded it good in Sahih At-Tirmidhi 3/184
